Active Week and Sport’s Day 2019

by

We had a fantastic Active Week this year, jam packed with activities for keeping both our minds and bodies healthy.

We started every morning with a ‘Wake & Shake”. It took a little bit of encouragement to get the parents dancing, but by Friday we had everyone moving.

On Monday, we had Shane our local gym owner and instructor come down to the school and get us all raising our heart rates and working hard. Shane’s sessions are always excellent and get us working hard.

Tuesday rolled around, and we had our Annual Fun Day. We welcomed members of Kevin Street Garda station to our annual football tournament. However fortunately for us the Cup is staying in St. Audoen’s this year. The Gardaí will need to come back next year to see can they win back the cup. We also had a visit from Nore Valley Pet Farm and we took really good care of the animals for the day. 6th class did a great job at keeping us cool by selling ice-cream.

On Wednesday and Thursday we participated in some Zumba lessons with Ms. Collins and circuits by Mr. Fitzharris.

By Friday, we had to save some energy, for our Sport’s Day. This year it was held in GrangeGorman and it was great. We were very fortunate to have beautiful weather. Our Parents Association were busy doing the face painting. We started the day with each class having theirs races. Room 1 started and set the bar very high. As the day progressed we went onto our novelty races with Room 10 finishing with their outfit changes. Our Mam’s and Dad’s did us proud with a very fast race and our past pupils having a competitive race. We also had our St. Audoen’s Fittest Family race.

It was a great day had by all, thank you to all the parents for supporting us.

We we had a great active week in St. Audoen’s NS.

Thank you, to all the staff and parents for their continued support.

Ms. O’Brien
