Maths Week 2015

by NKelly
Last week was National Maths Week and a very busy week for the mathematicians of St. Audoen’s NS!
Throughout the week, we used maths to break codes, to figure out puzzles and to answer maths challenges set by our teachers. Each day we worked hard on different challenges and posted our answers in the Maths Box! We impressed our teachers with our mathematical methods and vocabulary!
To help us with our code-breaking skills in Class 7 and 8, we visited the Science Gallery to see their exhibition on Secrets. We learned how numbers play an important role in code-breaking. See Room 8’s post on the trip here.
In Room 9 and 10, we were lucky enough to attend the Murderous Maths Show in DIT – we discovered maths was ‘deadly’. After the show with other Dublin schools, we took part in different challenges and puzzles helped by DIT students.
During Friday’s assembly, the winners of the daily challenges and code-breaking competition were announced! We all agreed maths can be lots of fun! Well done to all the winners and mathematicans who made Maths Week enjoyable this year.
