Dragon’s Den 2015

Solas Business (Solas Project/Graham Jones) is a business development programme that aims to teach children life skills and encourages creativity and entrepreneurship. This is achieved through corporate mentoring and exposure to a business environment that grounds their experience in reality.
The programme pairs local schools with a businesses who provide volunteer business mentors to come alongside the students and work with over a period of 5 weeks to develop a business idea or product and prepare to present it to ‘the Boardroom’. Just as they do in Dragon’s Den.
This year St Audoen’s was paired with Boys and Girls. Boys and Girls are a creative agency specialising in advertising and branding. Our 5th Class students built wonderful relationships with their mentors, who were inspiring, hard working and a lot of fun! They taught us that hard work can open up great opportunities for us and for our futures.
On Friday March 20th we visited the Boys and Girls offices to pitch to the judges there. WOW- their offices are amazing. We didn’t want to leave! We were welcomed and treated so well and were thrilled with the experience. Huge thanks to everyone there.
Well done to the creators of the Bully Bug who will represent St Audoen’s on May 15th in the community finals. All teams did St Audoen’s proud and presented their ideas confidently and enthusiastically on the day.
Thanks as always to Graham and Amy from the Solas Project who organised the programme. We look forward to the final!
