Halloween in 5th Class

by Mr Davern
We had a very exciting and spooky time in 5th Class during Halloween. We focused on creating scary stories for two weeks.
We decided to use 3rd class as our audience and when the stories were complete we invited them into 5th to reveal our final masterpieces!
Our writing focused on descriptive imagery to create the scares. We used Halloween similes and slow building climaxes to deliver real frights on our audience. This took planning, editing and drafting to get right. To intensify the spooky atmosphere we used intonation in our voices when reading our stories. This was made even more frightful with the use of flash lights in the total darkness along with Miss Monaghan’s chilling music sound effects.
