Dublin 8 Dad’s Football Blitz

Dublin 8 Dad's Football Blitz

It’s that time of year again when the St Audoen’s Dads dust off their boots, roll back the years and pretend like they’re on trial for Manchester United again! Yes, it’s the Dublin 8 Father’s Football Blitz! After winning it for the last two years, St Audoen’s were going into this competition as hot favourites.

The school would like to thank Keith Norton, Evan Kane, Robert Magee, James Furey, Christopher Kinsella, Peter Hughes, Stephen Rooney, Ronald McCann, Daniel Madden, Patrick Farrell and Colin Long for taking the time out to play in this competition. The children loved watching their Dads play and we were very proud to have them represent St. Audoen’s.

With their children looking on, the Dads put on a fantastic display, winning four matches, drawing two and losing only one in the group stage. We were into the Semi Finals.

Here’s Daniel making his presence felt in the opposition box.

Robbie started in goals but after some time decided to move out field where he scored for St Audoen’s.

Keith was the top scorer for the team. Some said that this was because he didn’t leave the opposition box….. we think it was because the Dads actually had the team tactics spot on!

Here is Ronald trying some fancy footwork!

The fathers made light work of the group but unfortunately were beaten by the eventual winners, Scoil Treasa, in the Semi Final. St Audoen’s are happy to to loan out our trophy for a year but no doubt our Dads will be back next year to reclaim the title!!

Huge thanks to our Dads and also Mr Davern, Mr Finan and Ms Dempsey for helping with this event.
