Autism Awareness Week 2019

by L B
Last week in St Audoen’s NS we celebrated Autism Awareness Week. The aim of this special week is to prepare all of our students for adult life in an inclusive society, while increasing our appreciation and acceptance of individual difference and develop our empathy for others.
The week was a great success with every class in the school participating in different activities.
We had a Breakfast Morning, Reading Buddy groups, a Football Tournament and an amazing Sensory Experience in the hall. To finish the week we held an Art Competition, there were some wonderful entries and we are excited to hear who won! All the activities highlighted Inclusion and there was tremendous work done in Rooms 5 and 6 .
We hope everyone learned something new from participating in this week and that we all developed our understanding of Autism.
Huge thanks to Ms Byrne and Mr Doherty for organising the fabulous activities.
